Focus: ‘Promotion of integrated thinking and acting’.
The PRIMO Lecture is founded in 2018 and is about the promotion of integrated thinking and acting in public governance is called the Professor dr. ir. Roelof A.A. Oldeman Lecture. Objective of the lecture is to create awareness about the city as a ecosystem, the complexity of holistic diagnosis and planing and stewardship as the highest form of public governance.
Since the foundation in 2005 PRIMO, working in an European context, perceives that the main public risks in the public domain – that of citizens, society and nature – find their cause in a lack of tuning. The present landscape of thinking and processes of tuning between stakes is highly fragmented and segmented.
Professor dr. ir. Roelof A.A. Oldeman (emeritus)has developed worldwide a new approach of looking at forest ecosystems. With his research and insights the coherence of the most complex ecosystems he contributed to understanding of the why things are as they are and what underlying processes are. PRIMO finds so many links to diagnosis of city ecosystems and its governance processes that we are highly inspired by him and thinks that this knowledge of the forest can contribute to understand of society. With his approval and cooperation the lecture has been developed and launched in 2018. His curriculum vitae gives insight in his worldwide involvement in system approaches.
